Social Media, Marketing, and Events Intern
Location: Michael Brothers Headquarters- 5460 Horning Rd, and various facility and event locations throughout the Pittsburgh region
Position Type: Internship (Seasonal or Semester-Based) – Part-Time or Full-Time(flexible based on availability)
Work Location: Hybrid. Office-based with on-site work at company facilities, events,and job sites as needed
Position Summary
Michael Brothers is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated internto support our social media, marketing, and events initiatives. This role willfocus on content creation, social media management, event support, and brandstorytelling across multiple platforms.
This internship is ideal for someone interested in marketing,communications, social media, event planning, and sustainability within the recycling and materials management industry.
Primary Responsibilities (Social Media/ Marketing / Events Support)
· Support day-to-day social media activity across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
· Assist with creating, scheduling, and publishing social media content
· Capture photos and videos at company facilities, job sites, and events for marketing use
· Draft captions and short-form content aligned with company brand voice and messaging
· Assist with planning and execution of company events, sponsorships, trade shows, and community outreach initiatives
· Support website updates, marketing materials, and campaign development as needed
· Help maintain content calendars, asset libraries, and basic performance tracking
· Ensure consistent branding across social media, events, and marketing materials
Additional Duties (As Needed)
· Assist with internal communications related to events and marketing initiatives
· Support follow-up communications after events or campaigns
· Help document events through photos,videos, and recap content
· Assist with market research and competitor analysis
· Support special marketing or creativeprojects as assigned
Qualifications
· Currently enrolled in classwork related to marketing, communications, business, journalism, or a related field
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Interest in social media, contentcreation, and event planning
· Interest in photography and videography
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to work independently after training and collaborate with team members
· Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content tools preferred
· Interest in sustainability, recycling,or community engagement is a plus
Physical Requirements
· Ability to attend events and job sitesas needed
· Comfort moving around active work environments such as facilities and outdoor event spaces
· Ability to carry materials such as signage, marketing materials, or event supplies
Schedule
· Flexible scheduling available. Typical hours may include weekday shifts with occasional evening or weekend work depending on events and operational needs.
Compensation
· Hourly wage based on experience and availability (to be determined).
