Scale Master/ Customer Service Representative
Summary
Serves as the first point of contact for customers disposing of waste and scrap metal; weighs trucks; calculates payments; checks loads; assists with customer needs; takes or gives payment; receives, processes, and directs calls from customers; takes orders; answers questions; suggests products;resolves conflict; and takes payments.
Essential Functions and Duties
1. Operation of Scale
a. Weigh trucks
b. Ensure trucks are properly positioned for accurate weights
c. Instruct drivers to the appropriate tipping area
d. Direct loads based on the contents; ensure incoming loads are safe and do not containany inappropriate material
e. Notifying the correct manager of any problems that require their attention
2. Cashiering
a. Greet customers,directs customers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately
b. Receive payment by cash, check, or creditcards
c. Issue receipts, refunds, credits, orchange due to customers.
d. Count money in cash drawer at thebeginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there isadequate change.
e. Maintain accurate cash drawer; providecorrect change to customers
3. Customer Service
a. Greet customers,directs customers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately
b. Interact professionally with a positive attitude with customers
c. Answers the phone in a timely manner totake orders and/or payments and answer questions about products while always maintaining a professional and courteous manner
d. Maintain accurate records
e. Make outbound calls to promote sales
f. Enter necessary information into software programs
g. Support other office functions as needed including filing, answering questions andphone calls, completing reports, etc
h. Effectively communicate through written communication such as Teams chats, email, and textmessages
i. Handle complaints by providing solutions and alternatives if possible
4. Safety
a. Following pre-established safety policies and guidelines
b. Wearing PPE as required while on facility grounds and conducting work-related business
c. Following company rules and federal, state and local laws
5. Other duties asassigned
Knowledge,Skills, Abilities
Basic math skills. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft OfficeSuite and other computer programs. Experience processing cash and credit transactions.
Education and Experience
Highschool diploma or equivalent. Experience working with the public.
