Position Overview

MB Companies is seeking a Recycling Technician to support daily recycling and yard operations. This position performs a variety of hands-on tasks across the facility, including material sorting, customer assistance,equipment operation, and maintaining an organized and safe yard environment.

The Recycling Technician plays an important role in helping maintain efficient recycling operations by assisting with material handling, directing traffic, supporting equipment operations, and ensuring the facility remainsclean and well maintained. This role requires strong work ethic, physical stamina, and the ability to work safely around moving equipment and active yard operations.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Yard Operations

• Load and unload recyclable materials from trucks and trailers.
• Transport materials throughout the yard and facility work areas.
• Assist with directing truck traffic and guiding drivers through the yard using verbal communication and hand signals.
• Sort recyclable metals and materials, separating higher-value metals such as copper, brass, and aluminum.
• Assist customers with public recycling drop-off and general questions.

Equipment & Tool Operation

• Operate a variety of tools and equipment including forklifts, power tools, pressure washers, shears, and material processing equipment.
• Assist with crushing, sorting, or processing recyclable materials as needed.
• Support equipment operators and yard operations to maintain smooth materialflow across the facility.

Facility Upkeep

• Clean machinery and maintain equipment work areas.
• Assist with general facility cleanup including sweeping, shoveling materials,raking, painting, and general yard maintenance.
• Help maintain organized work areas and safe operational conditions.
• Report maintenance issues or equipment concerns to supervisors promptly.

Safety & Compliance

• Follow all established safety policies and operational procedures.
• Work safely around heavy equipment and moving vehicles within the yard.
• Follow company policies and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and assist with safe yard operations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Ability to perform physical labor in an outdoor industrial environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with customers and drivers.
• Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of ateam.
• Good hand-eye coordination, strength, and endurance.
• Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and active yard operations.
• Willingness to work additional hours as operational needs require.

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in heavy labor, recycling, construction, or industrial environments preferred but not required.

This role operates primarily in an outdoor industrial environment and may involve:

• Dust, dirt, odors, and outdoor working conditions
• Extreme temperatures and inclement weather
• Standing, walking, bending, crouching, and reaching
• Lifting up to 75 pounds
• Working around moving equipment and active yard operations
