Heavy Equipment Operator
Position Overview
MB Companies is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support daily recycling and waste processing operations. This position is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment used to move, sort, load, and transport construction debris, demolition materials, and commercial or residential waste throughout the facility.
The Heavy Equipment Operator plays a critical role in maintaining safe,efficient material flow across the yard while ensuring equipment is operated responsibly and in compliance with company safety standards. This role requires strong attention to safety, equipment operation experience, and the ability towork effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation
• Operate heavy equipment including loaders, forklifts, bobcats, and other machinery used to move and process materials.
• Load and unload materials into trailers, containers, or designated staging areas.
• Transport and coordinate the movement of materials throughout the facility.
• Inspect material quality prior to shipment or processing.
• Complete required paperwork including daily reports and equipment inspection forms.
Yard Operations & Facility Upkeep
• Maintain organized and efficient yard operations.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance such aschecking fluids, tires, and operating condition.
• Assist with general yard cleanup including sweeping, shoveling, andmaintaining work areas.
• Identify equipment or operational issues and report them to management.
• Support additional operational duties as assigned.
Safety & Compliance
• Follow established safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while on facility grounds.
• Operate equipment in accordance with company rules and federal, state, andlocal regulations.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees and visitors.
Qualifications & Skills
• Prior experience operating heavy equipment in construction, recycling, waste management, or similar industrial environments preferred.
• Ability to operate loaders, forklifts, bobcats, or similar machinery safely and efficiently.
• Strong attention to safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow direction.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong hand-eye coordination, physical endurance, and equipment control.
• Knowledge of materials, tools, and processes commonly used in waste and recycling operations preferred.
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• 1 year of relevant heavy equipment or industrial experience preferred.
Work Environment & PhysicalRequirements
This role operates primarily in an outdoor industrial environment and may involve:
• Dust, dirt, and odors
• Extreme temperatures and inclement weather
• Standing, walking, bending, crouching, and sitting
• Lifting up to 75 pounds
• Continuous equipment operation throughout the workday
