Holiday Light Recycling Program Supports Project Bundle-Up

Michael Brothers Companies is proud to once again support The Salvation Army’s Project Bundle-Up through our Holiday Light Recycling Program.

Each year, our holiday light recycling program gives residents, businesses, and community partners throughout the Pittsburgh region a simple way to recycle used, broken, or unwanted holiday lights while supporting a meaningful local cause. Instead of sending old lights to the landfill, the materials are collected, recycled, and turned into a donation that helps benefit Project Bundle-Up.

Thanks to the generosity and participation of our community, more than 12,000 pounds of used and old holiday lights were recycled through the program this past year. Because of those donations, Michael Brothers was able to present a donation of $8,005.92 to The Salvation Army’s Project Bundle-Up.

Project Bundle-Up helps provide warm winter clothing for children and seniors throughout the Pittsburgh area. For Michael Brothers, this program is a great example of how recycling can create a positive impact beyond material recovery. By keeping holiday lights out of the landfill, the community is also helping support neighbors who need warm clothing during the winter months.

Michael Brothers collects holiday lights year-round at all four of our facilities. This fall, we will once again be placing collection stands throughout communities in the Pittsburgh area to make it even easier for residents to participate.

We are grateful to everyone who donated their old lights, hosted a collection stand, helped spread the word, or supported this program in any way. Together, we are keeping recyclable materials out of the landfill and helping keep children and seniors warm in our region.
